4 Tips Towards an Organic Lifestyle for Your Family

Adopting a lifestyle that focuses on buying and using organic products is becoming commonplace in this day and age. Families are becoming more conscious about their health and the environment in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. If anything, the pandemic has encouraged us to protect the health of our loved ones and change the way we consume. With an organic lifestyle, we can accomplish both of these goals — so long as the entire family is in on it!

You can’t deal with the transition alone, so start encouraging everyone at home to embrace a change for the better!

1. Update your shopping list

Do you have a ready list of items to purchase everytime you go grocery shopping? Are you always looking for a specific brand? Not all the items you add to the cart contain organic ingredients, so consider updating your shopping list by swapping a certain product with a healthier alternative. If you are used to buying a bag of potato chips, consider replacing it with organic snacks such as baked taro or tomato chips.

2. Stop using aerosol sprays

Everywhere you go, there’s always a good chance for you to breathe in synthetic materials. Asbestos, for example, can cause a condition known as mesothelioma. This disease, according to Bergman Legal, has been the subject of numerous lawsuits from people who developed severe cancers.

As a health-conscious parent, you need to make sure your family avoids breathing in toxic materials. If you are always using aerosol sprays, consider using an air purifier that produces HOCl. This odorless and organic acid helps disinfect your home without putting your family at risk of respiratory disease. It’s also very easy and fun to make, provided you have a machine that converts salt and water into HOCl.

3. Start a backyard garden

Why eat out during a pandemic when you can grow fresh ingredients at home? Sure enough, a lot of people spent their time under lockdown growing their vegetable gardens. This makes perfect  sense since gardens provide a lot of physical and mental benefits to people living with serious diseases such as cancer and coping with the current health crisis. If you’re just starting out with your own backyard project, you might want to plant carrots, tomatoes, and spinach for your initial crop. You can also encourage your partner and the kids to help you out. Make it fun by rewarding the one who grows the most crops or who has the best garden layout. 

4. Consider DIY projects

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, over 27 million tons of garbage were moved into landfills in 2018 alone. A bulk of the trash consists of plastics from homes. It’s time for your family to do their part in protecting the environment and the best way to do that is to put a cap on buying new things. If possible, opt to reuse certain items or repurpose old ones for DIY projects. If you have broken furniture lying around, you can turn these into patio pieces or indoor decorations. You can also involve your family in doing these projects since these also teach the value of resourcefulness and enhance creativity.

Adopting an organic lifestyle requires team effort, so make the transition fun. The transition will turn out great for everyone in the end.
